Believe it or not, I am almost 30! Nearly three decades of living on this earth and I only just checked my FIRST music festival off my bucket list last weekend completing a beautiful weekend at Bonnaroo in Tennessee! How does one dress for high temps, large acres of field, and dancing all day and night to live music? I'm probably not the one to ask but thanks for stopping by my blog to see my attempts at achieving a music festival in stellar Sukie flair 😉
DAY ONE [who we caught :: Con Brio, Gold Link feat. Brasstracks, J. Cole w/ surprise guest Chance the Rapper]
So technically this was Day 2 of Bonnaroo because Bonnaroo started on Thursday. But we didn't arrive until later that evening so I'm counting Day 2 as my Day 1. Follow? I suppose it doesn't matter. Point is, I was trying to see Bryson Tiller and Chainsmokers that night. So I wanted to be in that vibe. Alas, did not make it to either of those but did get to dance to some J. Cole so all was not lost.
Day 2 [who we caught :: Jason Mraz, Ellie Goulding, random Silent Disco session, Miguel w/ not so surprise guest Chance the Rapper]
Anyone else's favorite movie growing up The Craft? Just me? I used to be obsessed with dark arts type of stuff like witches and vampires hence my love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer...and quite possibly the reason for my obsession with all things Harry Potter. Realistically, Day 2's outfit of choice was solely for the reason of having any excuse to wear this sheer hoodie dress in the middle of the day. I normally wear it over a bathing suit to the beach or pool but why not a music festival? I felt like a dementor...but a really nice one <3
Day 3 [who we caught :: Death Cab for Cutie, Chance the Rapper at the Silent Disco (jk this was a failed catch), Dead & Company aka Grateful Dead with John Mayer]
By this point it came as no surprise that Chance, while not on the lineup anywhere, was quite actually everywhere at Bonnaroo. Thus, dubbed the Mayor of Bonnaroo. We wanted to see him at the Silent Disco where he was playing his latest Colouring Book but apparently so did everyone else at Bonnaroo so we weren't able to get in before it capped out. I was, however, able to relive high school feels with a little Death Cab for Cutie. That picture of me holding my heart is because they played Transantlanticism after I had already left side stage and I could hear them playing it from where we were shooting pics. This was a genuine candid moment, haha! All that being said, Day 3 was about getting to wear some of my favorite new finds with some of my favorite staples to enjoy some of my favorite music (hello John Mayer slaying on the guitar). I love my new zoot hat I snagged at Wasteland and this easy breezy tank dress that was on sale at Urban! Also, I have to say that these good ol' Docs of mine have lasted nearly a decade and got me stompin' through the festival grounds all weekend with no fear of foot pain!
Honorable mentions [because it's not all about me!]
The Bold and The Beautiful = Fun+Fearless!
Stop and smell the roses.
Loved that these girlfriends carried the same vibe but their own stylistic touch. Obsessed with the fit on the far right.
If you've made it this far thank you for sticking through such a long blog post! But Bonnaroo being my first music festival deserved a lengthy share! Before I bid adieu, I must thank once again my best friend and roommate Megan Batoon for inviting me to travel with her and to the good folks at RedBullTV for their wonderful hospitality. What a weekend to remember with new people I'm so grateful to have met!
